The town's largest college is [[Middlesbrough College]], with 16,000 students. [[The Northern School of Art]] (established in 1870) is also based in Middlesbrough, it has another site in [[Hartlepool]]. It is one of only four specialist art and design further education colleges in the United Kingdom.
