====Lutheranism==== [[Lutheranism]] has been tied with monarchies of various countries, such as Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland, among others. These countries are [[Christian state]]s with the Lutheran Church being the state church. At the [[Diocese of Västerås|Diet of Västerås]] in 1527, it was declared that “the word of God should be preached in all purity throughout the kingdom”.<ref name="Musée2025">{{cite web |title=Protestantism in the Scandinavian countries |url=https://museeprotestant.org/en/notice/protestantism-in-the-scandinavian-countries/ |publisher=Musée Protestant |access-date=30 May 2025}}</ref> The monarchs of these countries are professed Lutherans and to the present-day, "the influence of Lutheranism can still be deeply felt in the life of these countries."<ref name="Musée2025"/> The [[Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod]] teaches:<ref name="Mackenzie2012"/> {{quotation|Law and order, peace and prosperity are great blessings from God to the church, and the government’s task is to protect them. At the time of the Reformation, Lutherans depended on earthly rulers to defend the Gospel from those who wanted to suppress it by force. These same rulers presented the Augsburg Confession to the emperor and established Lutheran churches in their territories.<ref name="Mackenzie2012"/>}} Lutheran theology teaches that "in carrying out its own mandate from God, the church must speak Law as well as Gospel", which "often means addressing public questions from the perspective of God’s Word."<ref name="Mackenzie2012"/>
