==ACS problems and fixes 2006β2009== [[File:STS-125 crew portrait.jpg|thumb|The astronaut crew that repaired ACS on its 2009 space shuttle mission, STS-125]] On 25 June 2006 ACS suffered an electronic failure. It was powered up successfully on its redundant (side-2) electronics. The instrument subsystems, including the CCD detectors, proved to be working after engineering tests, and ACS resumed science operations on July 4, 2006.<ref>{{cite web|publisher=STScI |title=Advanced Camera for Surveys Update |date=2006-06-30 |url=http://www.stsci.edu/hst/ACSBack |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120805180436/http://www.stsci.edu/hst/ACSBack |url-status=dead |archive-date=2012-08-05 }}</ref><ref name="STScI">{{cite press release|publisher=STScI|title=Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys Resumes Exploring the Universe|date= 12 July 2006 |url=http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/newsdesk/archive/releases/2006/36/full/}}</ref> On 23 September 2006, the ACS again failed, though by 9 October the problem had been diagnosed and resolved.<ref name="Hubble ACS Status Report #3">{{cite web |url=http://www.stsci.edu/resources/acs.html |title=Hubble ACS Status Report #3 |publisher=Space Telescope Science Institute |access-date=2007-01-10 |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120530063453/http://www.stsci.edu/resources/acs.html |archive-date=2012-05-30 |url-status=dead }}</ref> On January 27, 2007, the ACS failed due to a short circuit in its backup power supply.<ref name=acsnews07>{{cite press release | date=January 29, 2007 | url=http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2007/jan/HQ_0715_Hubble_ACS.html |title=Engineers Investigate Issue on One of Hubble's Science Instruments |publisher=[[NASA]] |access-date=2007-05-08| archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20070514132230/http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2007/jan/HQ_0715_Hubble_ACS.html| archive-date= 14 May 2007 | url-status= live}}</ref> The instrument's Solar Blind Channel (SBC) was returned to operation on 19 February 2007 using the side-1 electronics.
