==="Ch" (or 12th Emergency) Flotilla=== Six destroyers, the first of 26 'Intermediate' destroyers to be authorised under the 1942 Programme, were ordered on 24 July 1942, a pair each from Thornycroft, Scotts and Alexander Stephen. The fourth pair was originally intended to be ordered from Vickers Armstrongs, Walker-on-Tyne, but instead were ordered from Denny on 30 July. The ''Chequers'' and ''Childers'' were fitted as [[Flotilla leader|Leaders]]. {| class="wikitable plainrowheaders" style="font-size:97%;" |+ Ships of the "Ch" (12th Emergency) Flotilla |- !scope="col" |Name !scope="col" |Pennant !scope="col" |Builder <ref name="Whitley p136-7">Whitley 2000, pp. 136β137.</ref> !scope="col" |Laid Down <ref name="Whitley p136-7"/> !scope="col" |Launched <ref name="Whitley p136-7"/> !scope="col" |Commissioned <ref name="Whitley p136-7"/> !scope="col" |Fate |- !scope="row"|{{HMS|Chaplet|R52|2}} |R52 |[[John I.
