===1966: First rushing title===
In his second season, Sayers led the league in rushing with 1,231 yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry with eight touchdowns, and becoming the first Chicago Bears halfback to win the [[rushing title]] since 1949.<ref>In every season from 1950 to 1965, the annual rushing yards leader was a [[Fullback (American football)|fullback]].</ref> He also led the Bears in receiving with 34 catches, 447 yards, and two more touchdowns.<ref>{{cite web|title=1966 Chicago Bears Statistics & Players|url=https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/chi/1966.htm#all_rushing_and_receiving|website=[[Pro Football Reference]]|publisher=Sports Reference LLC|access-date=February 17, 2017}}</ref> He surpassed his rookie season's kick return numbers, averaging 31.2 yards per return with two touchdowns.
