The Middle Ages are considered to have ended with the Renaissance in the mid 15th century. In the 17th century the Manor of Barwick was sold to Sir Thomas Lynch, [[List of Governors of Jamaica|Governor of Jamaica]] and then to Sir William Turner of [[Kirkleatham]].
