As the successor to [[U.S. Route 15|US&nbsp;15]] in [[Western New York]], it has been suggested that I-390 be added to the routes of either [[Interstate 99|I-99]] or [[Interstate 83|I-83]] as recently as 2002, with I-99's northern completed segment currently sharing the US&nbsp;15 routing up to [[Corning, New York|Corning]], {{Convert|24|mi|km}} south of I-390's current southern terminus. However, no official moves have been forwarded to fulfill this.{{cn|date=November 2024}}
