=== In creative works === In 1922, [[Lewis Davies (writer)|Lewis Davies]] wrote a novel, ''Lewsyn yr Heliwr'', inspired by the events of the Merthyr Riot of 1831. The novel won the National Eisteddfod, Caernarfon, 1921.
