===Kansas City Chiefs === In 1993, McCarthy and Paul Hackett left Pittsburgh and were hired by the [[Kansas City Chiefs]] under head coach [[Marty Schottenheimer]].<ref name=":2" /> McCarthy worked two years as an offensive quality control assistant.
