Montenegrins speak [[Shtokavian]], which is a [[Prestige (sociolinguistics)|prestige]] [[supradialect]] of the [[Pluricentric language|pluricentric]] Serbo-Croatian. The Eastern Herzegovinian dialect is spoken in the majority of Montenegro and [[Bosnia and Herzegovina]], as well as areas in [[Croatia]] and Serbia, with Montenegro only partially codifying the dialect.
