Strathfield Municipal Council is composed of seven councillors elected [[Single transferable vote|proportionally]] as one entire [[Ward (country subdivision)|ward]]. All councillors are elected for a fixed four-year term of office. The mayor and deputy mayor are elected bi-annually by the councillors at the first meeting of the council.
