== Recognition and retirement ==
Bulleid was elected president of the [[Institution of Mechanical Engineers]] for 1946. Bulleid retired in 1958,<ref name=Guardianobit /> moving to [[Belstone]] in [[Devon]], then [[Exmouth, Devon|Exmouth]]. British Rail [[British Rail Class 73#Fleet details|Class 73/1 electro-diesel locomotive]] No. 73128 is called "O. V. S.
