==New central library== {{more citations needed|date=April 2018}} In recent years, numerous cities such as Vancouver, Seattle and Salt Lake City, have had great success in constructing new central libraries as part of downtown revitalization efforts. These urban landmarks have created new civic spaces that both create community and are key component of an information society. Accordingly, there is pressure for Ottawa to have a great design and follow other Canadian cities such as Calgary and Halifax, who have erected new libraries in recent years.<ref>{{cite web |last1=Laucius |first1=Joanne |title=Take a first peek at what Ottawa's new 'super library' will look like |url=https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/take-a-first-peek-at-what-ottawas-new-super-library-will-look-like |website=Ottawa Citizen |access-date=20 October 2020 |date=2020}}</ref> There was an offer to the City Council from a developer for a partnership to build in the still-mostly-empty [[Lebreton Flats]]. The joint [[OPL and LAC Joint Facility|OPL-LAC Joint Facility]] (Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives of Canada) will be located at 555 Albert Street at the edge of LeBreton Flats. <ref>{{cite web |title=Location |url=https://inspire555.ca/library-archives-location/ |website=OPL-LAC Joint Facility |publisher=City of Ottawa |access-date=20 October 2020}}</ref><ref>{{cite web |title=Background |url=https://inspire555.ca/library-archives-project-background/ |website=OPL-LAC Joint Facility |publisher=City of Ottawa |access-date=20 October 2020}}</ref>
