==Geography== Pendleton is located in southern Madison County. It is bordered to the north by the city of [[Anderson, Indiana|Anderson]], the [[county seat]]. It is bordered to the west by the town of [[Lapel, Indiana|Lapel]] and to the southwest by the town of [[Ingalls, Indiana|Ingalls]]. [[Interstate 69]] passes through the west side of the town and travels along its northern border, with access from Exits 219 and 222. I-69 leads southwest {{convert|30|mi}} to [[Indianapolis]] and north-northeast {{convert|91|mi}} to [[Fort Wayne, Indiana|Fort Wayne]]. [[U.S. Route 36]] passes through the southeast side of Pendleton, leading southwest to Indianapolis and east {{convert|62|mi}} to [[Greenville, Ohio]]. [[Indiana State Road 9]] passes through the east side of Pendleton, leading north {{Convert|10|mi|0}} to Anderson and south {{convert|15|mi}} to [[Greenfield, Indiana|Greenfield]]. [[Indiana State Road 38|State Road 38]] passes through the center of Pendleton as State Street, leading east-southeast {{convert|21|mi}} to [[New Castle, Indiana|New Castle]] and west-northwest {{convert|14|mi}} to [[Noblesville, Indiana|Noblesville]]. [[Indiana State Road 132|State Road 132]] (Lapel Road) leads northwest from Pendleton {{convert|7|mi|0}} to Lapel. According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Pendleton has a total area of {{convert|13.43|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|0.07|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, or 0.52%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> [[Fall Creek (Indiana)|Fall Creek]] passes through the town west of its center, flowing southwest to the [[White River (Indiana)|White River]] in Indianapolis.
