== Longevity == A tree in Northern Greece was dated as 1,075 years old in 2016.<ref>New Scientist magazine issue 27th Aug 2016 page 7</ref> What is believed to be the oldest known living tree in Europe has been discovered in a remote mountainous area of the [[Pollino National Park]] in southern Italy. It is a Heldreich's pine estimated at 1,230 years.
