The [[Trysilgutten]] ski club, founded in 1861, is one of the world's oldest ski clubs. See also the [[Kiandra snow shoe club]] and [[Onion Valley]] snow shoe club. The small village of [[Nybergsund]] was bombed by [[Germany|German]] aviators during [[World War II]] on 11 April 1940, when King [[Haakon VII of Norway|Haakon VII]] and Crown Prince [[Olav V of Norway|Olav]] were there.
