On 30 June 2014, the club announced that the "London" prefix of the name had been dropped, returning to Wasps for the first time since the re-branding in 1999.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.espnscrum.com/scrum/rugby/story/231543.html|title=Wasps drop 'London' prefix|website=ESPN scrum}}</ref>
