== company names == What is Wikipedia policy on company names? Specifically, the Inc, Ltd, etc? For instance, [[United Airlines Inc.]] is listed at [[United Airlines]]; even though the official company name includes the ''inc.''. The same holds true for other companies. I try to make sure that companies that I create pages for use the official company name, with redirects for the other names, but I've balked at actually moving well-established pages without being sure on protocol. Enlighten me? [[User:Rhymeless|Rhymeless]] 06:08, 2 Jul 2004 (UTC) :I don't know if we have a specific convention on company names, but a general Wikipedia convention is to use the name that is best-known to most people. This is different from other encyclopedias, which generally use the most technically correct name. I've never heard anyone refer to "United Airlines Inc." as anything but "United Airlines," so that's where we have the article. If on the other hand people usually use the "Ltd." or the "Inc." in the name, then include it.
