The 747 taxied to the parking area without incident. The accident was attributed to the failure of [[air traffic control]] (ATC) to ensure that the maintenance crew had cleared the runway, inadequate coordination between ATC and the airport maintenance department, and the inappropriate decision to perform maintenance on an active runway in low visibility.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20100121-2 |title=ASN Aircraft accident Boeing 747-4R7F LX-OCV Luxembourg-Findel Airport (LUX) |author=<!--Not stated--> |website=aviation-safety.net |publisher=Aviation Safety Network |access-date=2 January 2024}}</ref>
