Checker performed as well as appeared as a version of himself in ''[[Twist Around the Clock]]'' (1961) and ''[[Don't Knock the Twist]]'' (1962). Checker later appeared as himself in the 1989 ''[[Quantum Leap (1989 TV series)|Quantum Leap]]'' episode entitled "Good Morning, Peoria" where he walks into a radio station in 1959 hoping to have his demo record played on the air.
