== Intentional intersymbol interference == Coded modulation systems also exist that intentionally build a controlled amount of ISI into the system at the transmitter side, known as [[faster-than-Nyquist signaling]]. Such a design trades a computational complexity penalty at the receiver against a Shannon capacity gain of the overall transceiver system.<ref>{{cite journal |title=Faster-Than-Nyquist Signaling |first1=John B. |last1=Anderson <!--Not [[John B.
