== Adaptations == Later ''[[Ace of Wands (TV series)|Ace of Wands]]'' writer [[Trevor Preston]] adapted the first two books into a seven-episode television [[sitcom]] for [[Thames Television]] starring [[Jack Woolgar]] as Branestawm, entitled ''The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm'', broadcast from 10 July to 28 August 1969. Episodes were directed by Pamela Lonsdale (nos. 1β5) and [[Voytek (producer)|Voytek]] (nos. 6β7). In 2001 five stories were adapted for BBC Radio 4, with the Professor voiced by John Fortune.<ref>{{Cite web | url=http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/schedules/radio4/fm/2001-12-17 | title=BBC Radio 4 FM β 17 December 2001 β BBC Genome}}</ref> In 2014, a BBC hour-long television film adaptation of Hunter's books, written by [[Charlie Higson]] and starring [[Harry Hill]] as Professor Branestawm, was broadcast on Christmas Eve.<ref name=Hill>{{cite news|title=Harry Hill to play Professor Branestawm on BBC One|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29441893|accessdate=1 October 2014|work=BBC News|date=1 October 2014}}</ref> Filming for this took place in [[Shere, Surrey]] in early October 2014, then [[Wallingford, Oxfordshire|Wallingford]] in mid October, and included [[David Mitchell (comedian)|David Mitchell]], [[Simon Day]], [[Ben Miller]] and [[Miranda Richardson]]. In 2015, a sequel, also an hour-long, entitled ''Professor Branestawm Returns'' aired on Christmas Eve at 5.20pm on [[BBC One]].
