==Red tape and public sector employee job satisfaction== Red tape can reduce employee flexibility and autonomy, thereby reducing job satisfaction.<ref name="burnout">Fuenzalida, J., Gutiérrez, L., Fernández-Vergara, A., & González, P. (2022). Red Tape and burnout risks of public service managers: Evidence from a survey experiment of school principals. September 2016.</ref> This report found that internal red tape is a significant concern for public servants.
