It killed our momentum. It made apparent that there was a point of burnout. So that’s where we’ve been – everyone stepped away. People started doing other things and it got weird. I’m one person in the equation, and because I’m still out here playing the songs and putting out records and doing interviews, I’m always put to task to answer for it all. All I’m ever trying to do is demonstrate that I still want to do it. I go out every night and I still feel attached to the music and I still love playing music. I can’t speak for the other people, I can only speak for myself."<ref name="NMEInterview">{{cite web|url=https://www.nme.com/news/music/laura-jane-grace-interview-hole-in-my-head-against-me-reunion-3584582|title=Laura Jane Grace talks 'Hole In My Head' and the return of 'Against Me!' |work=[[NME]]|last=Rigotti|first=Alex|date=February 9, 2024|access-date=February 10, 2024|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240209080913/https://www.nme.com/news/music/laura-jane-grace-interview-hole-in-my-head-against-me-reunion-3584582|archive-date=February 9, 2024|url-status=live}}</ref> Grace, however, remained optimistic that the band would reunite in the future after "reconnecting" at her wedding: "I don’t want to jinx anything. We’ll just have to see. But we didn’t break up, it just got weird. We’ll play again, I have faith in that. I just don’t know when that’ll be. I’m really hopeful for this year that we’ll start playing music again."<ref name="NMEInterview"/>
