===Integration of US and Canadian operations=== On August 16, 2011, the then-named Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB) announced the formal integration of operations in the United States & Canada, effective immediately.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.bbb.org/council/migration/bbb-news-releases/2011/08/better-business-bureau-integrates-us-and-canadian-operations|website=Better Business Bureau |title=Better Business Bureau Integrates U.S. and Canadian Operations|date=August 16, 2011|access-date=January 22, 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150122223359/http://www.bbb.org/council/migration/bbb-news-releases/2011/08/better-business-bureau-integrates-us-and-canadian-operations/|archive-date=January 22, 2015|url-status=dead}}</ref> According to the statement, integration marks the way "for an improved customer experience for those who purchase goods and services across the border". Stephen A. Cox, President and CEO of CBBB, said: "The U.S. and Canada remain each other's largest trading partners. We are really one North American marketplace, and the BBB system now reflects that. Not only will it be easier for consumers to check out businesses in either country, it will be simpler for them to file a complaint or resolve a dispute." The move was supported by the Canadian Council of Better Business Bureaus (CCBBB). "Given the advances in technology and the globalization of services, it no longer makes sense to maintain two separate systems," said M. Jean Lemyre, chair of the CCBBB. "The vast majority of consumers initially contact BBB through the Internet. Aligning BBB services into one integrated system will be more efficient for businesses in Canada, and will ensure that consumers continue to receive the high quality of services they've come to expect from BBB."<ref name="thespec.com">{{cite news|url=http://www.thespec.com/news-story/2164412-hamilton-better-business-bureau-vows-to-stay-open/|title=Hamilton Better Business Bureau vows to stay open|date=August 24, 2011|newspaper=The Hamilton Spectator}}</ref><ref name="bbb.org">{{cite web|title=Better Business Bureau Integrates U.S. and Canadian Operations|date=August 16, 2011|publisher=Council of Better Business Bureaus|url=http://www.bbb.org/council/migration/bbb-news-releases/2011/08/better-business-bureau-integrates-us-and-canadian-operations/|access-date=January 22, 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150122223359/http://www.bbb.org/council/migration/bbb-news-releases/2011/08/better-business-bureau-integrates-us-and-canadian-operations/|archive-date=January 22, 2015|url-status=dead}}</ref><ref name="thestar.com">{{cite news |first1= Tony |last1=Van Alphen |date=September 7, 2011 |title=Consumer watchdog to reduce local presence in Canada - Toronto Star |newspaper=The Toronto Star |url=https://www.thestar.com/business/2011/09/07/consumer_watchdog_to_reduce_local_presence_in_canada.html}}</ref><ref name="windsorchamber.org">{{Cite web |url=http://www.windsorchamber.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Oct-31-2011-Battle-brews-over-business-accreditation-in-Windsor.pdf |title=Battle brews over business accreditation in Windsor |date=October 31, 2011 |author=Ellen Van Wageningen |work=The Windsor Star |access-date=January 22, 2015 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150122231908/http://www.windsorchamber.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Oct-31-2011-Battle-brews-over-business-accreditation-in-Windsor.pdf |archive-date=January 22, 2015 |url-status=dead }}</ref>
