The [[St. David's Church, Llanfaes|Church of St&nbsp;David]], referred to locally as Llanfaes Church, was probably founded in the early sixteenth century. The first parish priest, Maurice Thomas, was installed there by John Blaxton, Archdeacon of Brecon in 1555.
