The album also features contributions from cellist Megan Siebe, who had previously toured alongside Kasher in an acoustic duo mode. This marks the first Cursive album to feature cello since ''The Ugly Organ''. Songs from the album were primarily written and recorded during the sessions for ''Vitriola'' with the intent of releasing a double album.
