In 2012, Cook caused a minor controversy when a joke he made in a comedy club about the [[2012 Aurora, Colorado shooting]] was recorded and made the headlines.{{blockquote|So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie. At the end of 2018 Cook announced the "Tell It Like It is" Tour, his first full-scale stand-up tour since "Under Oath" in 2013.
