==Governance==
Before the reform of local government in 1974, brought about by the [[Local Government Act 1972]], Goole was in the [[West Riding of Yorkshire]]. It was then placed in the [[Boothferry (district)|Boothferry]] district of the county of [[Humberside]] until that was abolished in 1996. Since 1996 Goole has been in the [[East Riding of Yorkshire]].
