The film was produced by John Wayne's Batjac Productions and released through [[United Artists]]. Batjac failed to renew the copyright, which expired in 1991. Batjac Productions, a company now owned by John Wayne's estate, retains distribution rights for "officially restored" versions of the film and holds the original film negatives, as well as rights to the film's musical score.
