The track was recorded at Distortion Fest in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on 9 December 2012.<ref name="Metal Storm"/> On 12 May 2016, Meshuggah released a teaser video on their YouTube page and confirmed that their next studio album was to be released in late 2016. On 28 July 2016, the title was revealed to be ''[[The Violent Sleep of Reason]]'', and was given a 7 October release date.
