==Subspecies== The musk duck has two recognized subspecies.<ref>{{cite web | url=https://www.waterfowl.org.uk/wildfowl/stifftails-allies/musk-duck/ | title=Musk Duck }}</ref> ''Biziura lobata menziesi'',<ref>{{cite web |website=Australian Faunal Directory |title=Subspecies ''Biziura lobata menziesi'' Mathews, 1914|url=https://biodiversity.org.au/afd/taxa/Biziura_lobata_menziesi}}</ref> commonly referred to as the eastern musk duck, has a range from South Australia extending to the southern reaches of Queensland, through most of New South Wales and Victoria, and finally reaching as far south as Tasmania. The other subspecies is ''Biziura lobata lobata'',<ref>{{cite web | url=https://inaturalist.nz/observations/6790344 | title=Western Musk Duck (Subspecies Biziura lobata lobata) | date=June 2017 }}</ref> commonly referred to as the western musk duck. Its range is the south-west of Western Australia.
