==== Late Neolithic ==== {{main|Late Neolithic}} The Late Neolithic began around 6,400 BC in the [[Fertile Crescent]].{{sfn|Bellwood|2004|p=384}} By then distinctive cultures emerged, with pottery like the [[Halafian]] (Turkey, Syria, Northern Mesopotamia) and [[Ubaid period|Ubaid]] (Southern Mesopotamia).
