The Sons of Fëanor are (in the order of their birth) [[Maedhros]], Maglor, Celegorm, Curufin, Caranthir, Amras, and Amrod.<ref name="Temp Silm I" group=T/><ref name="Temp Silm II" group=T/>

The [[Tolkien research|Tolkien scholar]] [[Tom Shippey]] comments that the [[Family trees of Middle-earth|family tree]] of the House of Finwë is "essential", as [[Ancestry as guide to character in Tolkien's legendarium|Tolkien allocates character by ancestry]]; thus, Fëanor is pure Noldor, and so excellent as a craftsman, but his half-brothers Fingolfin and Finarfin have [[Vanyar]] blood from their mother, Indis. They are accordingly less skilful as craftsmen, but superior "in restraint and generosity".<ref name="Shippey 2005 Light and Dark"/>
