===Battle of Maldon===
In 991 Olaf was one of the commanders of the first large-scale Viking attack on England for a generation. A large force harried [[Ipswich]] and inflicted a major defeat on the English at the [[Battle of Maldon]], which was the subject of [[The Battle of Maldon|a famous Old English poem]].
