===A&P Takeover and Pathmark Sav-A-Center===
In March 2007, Pathmark's competitor [[The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company|A&P]] bought it for $678.6 million.<ref>Mestanza, Jean-Pierre. "N. In spring 2008, Pathmark introduced a "price impact" store concept, under the Pathmark Sav-A-Center brand. In 2009, several changes were made to Pathmark. The North Plainfield Pathmark also closed as part of this store consolidation. Meanwhile, A&P was updating its former Super Center branding by retrofitting older stores with new interior decor to comply with its Sav-A-Center branding.
