==== Closure & reopening ==== The Temporary Transbay Terminal initially ceased operations on August 12, 2018, with the opening of the new Salesforce Transit Center, only to be reopened weeks later, on September 25, 2018, following the discovery of support beam cracks at the Salesforce Transit Center.<ref>{{Cite news|url=https://abc7news.com/how-to-get-around-during-sf-salesforce-transit-centers-temporary-closure/4338690/|title=How to get around during Salesforce Transit Center's temporary closure in San Francisco|date=2018-09-25|work=San Francisco Chronicle|access-date=2018-09-25|language=en-US}}</ref> By December 5, 2018, [[Clipper card]] kiosks were reinstalled at the temporary terminal due to the continued closure of the Transit Center.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Matier & Ross |title=No date to fix SF transit terminal as Clipper kiosks return to temporary site |url=https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/No-date-to-fix-SF-transit-terminal-as-Clipper-13443141.php |accessdate=8 December 2018 |agency=San Francisco Chronicle |date=5 December 2018}}</ref> In April 2019, repairs were finished and it was determined that the cause of the cracking was partly caused when crews welding the beams together skipped a crucial step in the process required by the building code that led to tiny, micro-cracks forming. Multiple inspections failed to notice the skipped step, and those micro-cracks grew into larger ones. After a thorough set of repairs and reviews, the transit center reopened to the public on August 11, 2019, nearly one year after its closure.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Buses-using-SF-s-Transbay-transit-center-for-14296869.php|title=Buses roll again at SF's Transbay transit center, declared safe after nearly a year - SFChronicle.com|date=2019-08-12|website=www.sfchronicle.com|language=en-US|access-date=2019-08-15}}</ref>
