===International era, 1980 to the present=== The fraternity chartered 42 new chapters in the 1980s. Sigma Pi became an international organization in 1984 with the chartering of Zeta-Iota chapter at [[Western Ontario University|Western Ontario]] in [[Canada]].<ref name = "Bairds1990" /> The fraternity subsequently changed its name to Sigma Pi Fraternity International.
