Jenkins was diagnosed with [[chronic fatigue syndrome]] preceding the 1997 release of ''[[Third Eye Blind (album)|Third Eye Blind]]''.<ref name="chronicle" />

Jenkins was in a three-year relationship with actress [[Charlize Theron]] until October 2001.
