After his release from Cesena, Mutu signed a new contract with [[AC Ajaccio]] of the French [[Ligue 1]] on 28 August 2012. He said that he favoured the Italian culture on Corsica, dismissed claims that he was preparing for retirement, and stated that he would score more goals than [[Zlatan Ibrahimović]] of [[Paris Saint-Germain]].
