The city was hit with 100 mph winds gusts during the [[Columbus Day storm of 1962]].<ref name="IOAC"/>{{rp|111}} The highest temperature ever recorded in the city was 107.0&nbsp;°F (41.7&nbsp;°C) in July 2009.
