====Horn of Africa==== [[Salweyn]] in Northern Somalia contains a very large field of [[cairn]]s, which stretches for a distance of around 8 km.<ref name="Tpficss">{{cite book|author=Somali Studies International Association|editor1=Charles L. Adam|editor2-link=Hussein Mohamed Adam|title=The Proceedings of the First International Congress of Somali Studies|date=1992|publisher=Scholars Press|isbn=0-89130-658-7|pages=39–40|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=mM8tAQAAIAAJ|access-date=13 October 2014}}</ref> An excavation of one of these tumuli by Georges Révoil in 1881 uncovered a tomb, beside which were artefacts pointing to an ancient, advanced civilization.
