:To expand on Moink's answer (how does one pronounce that - does it rhyme with Oink or Ink?) there only surefire way is to search the list.  There's really few reasons to need to know if a specific person is an admin - they don't have any more "weight" (so you don't need to check to see if someone with whom you're arguing is a "heavy") and all admin activities (protection, moves, blocks) are done in public anyway.
