For service during [[Operation Urgent Fury]] (1983), the United States' invasion of Grenada, Delta was awarded the [[Joint Meritorious Unit Award]]. The unit was awarded the [[Valorous Unit Award]] for extraordinary heroism during the [[Operation Acid Gambit|Modelo Prison hostage rescue mission]] and the capture of [[Manuel Noriega]] in December 1989 during [[Operation Just Cause]] in [[Panama]]. 1st SFOD-D operators from C Squadron were also involved in [[Operation Gothic Serpent]] (1993) in Somalia. Two of those operators, [[Master sergeant#United States|MSG]] [[Gary Gordon]] and [[Sergeant first class#United States|SFC]] [[Randy Shughart]], were posthumously awarded the [[Medal of Honor]] for their actions on 3 October 1993 during the [[Battle of Mogadishu (1993)|Battle of Mogadishu]].
