===Read application data=== [[Smart card]]s store data in files. The AFL contains the files that contain EMV data. These all must be read using the read record command. EMV does not specify which files data is stored in, so all the files must be read. Data in these files is stored in [[BER encoding rules|BER]] [[Type–length–value|TLV]] format.
