====連用形==== According to the appendix アクセント to the ''[[Daijirin]]'', here are the patterns for the 連用形 of unigrade verbs without a trailing particle or auxiliary: *くらべる → くらべꜜ or くらべ(比べ) *しらべꜜる → しらꜜべ(調べ) The derived noun from くらべる is くらべ (accentless). Also compare the 連用形 しらꜜべ (''nakadaka'') to its derived noun, しらべꜜ (''odaka''). According to Timothy J. Vance (2008)<ref name=vance/> and Shiro Kori (2020),<ref name=Kori2020>{{cite journal|lang=ja|last=Kori|first=Shiro|script-title=ja:日本語の助詞・助動詞類のアクセント|script-journal=ja:言語文化共同研究プロジェクト|url=https://ir.library.osaka-u.ac.jp/repo/ouka/all/77063/gbkp_2019_o14_013.pdf|date=31 July 2020|publisher=Osaka University|doi=10.18910/77063}}</ref> here are the patterns for the 連用形 of quinquegrade verbs without a trailing particle or auxiliary: *のる → のり(乗り) *はなꜜす → はなꜜし(話し) *のꜜむ → のꜜみ(飲み) Compare the 連用形 はなꜜし and のꜜみ (''nakadaka'') to their respective derived nouns, はなしꜜ and のみꜜ (''odaka'').
