==Material advances== Recent advances in [[out of autoclave composite manufacturing|out of autoclave (OOA)]]<ref>{{Cite journal|last1=Centea|first1=T.|last2=Hubert|first2=P.|date=March 2011|title=Measuring the impregnation of an out-of-autoclave prepreg by micro-CT|journal=Composites Science and Technology|volume=71|issue=5|pages=593β599|doi=10.1016/j.compscitech.2010.12.009|issn=0266-3538}}</ref> processes hold promise for improving performance and lowering costs for composite structures. Using vacuum-bag-only (VBO) for atmospheric pressures, the new OOA processes promise to deliver less than 1 percent void content required for aerospace primary structures. Led by material scientists at [[Air Force Research Lab]], the technique would save the costs of constructing and installing large structure autoclaves ($100M saved at NASA) and making small production runs of 100 aircraft economically viable.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.compositesworld.com/articles/out-of-autoclave-prepregs-hype-or-revolution |title=Out-of-autoclave prepregs: Hype or revolution? |publisher=Composites World |date= |access-date=2011-01-03}}</ref>
