===Recalls=== In May 2008, Toyota issued a [[Product recall|recall]] for 2003 and 2004 model year Corollas and Matrixes. The recall notice cites two bolts in each of the front doors as potentially causing the window to come off the track and break. This recall only applies to models equipped with power windows.<ref>Toyota Recall Notice β SSC 80A β "2003 through 2004 Model Year Corolla and Corolla Matrix front door glass bolts safety recall notice"</ref> General Motors issued a recall for the same problem on 2003 and 2004 Pontiac Vibes with power windows at the same time.<ref>{{cite web|title=2003 Pontiac Vibe Recalls|url=http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2003/pontiac/vibe/recalls/index.html|publisher=[[Motor Trend]] Magazine|access-date=2008-10-21}}</ref> On August 26, 2010, Toyota issued a [[Product recall|recall]] for 2005 to 2008 model year Corollas and Matrixes, equipped with the 1ZZ-FE engine and two-wheel drive. The recall notices states that an improperly manufactured Engine Control Module (ECM) can develop a crack in its circuitry, potentially causing the "Check Engine" light to illuminate, harsh shifting, and stalling and/or failure of the engine to start.<ref>{{cite press release |url=http://pressroom.toyota.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=2056 |title=Toyota Announces Voluntary Safety Recall on Certain Toyota Corolla and Corolla Matrix Models |publisher=Toyota |location=US |date=2010-08-26 |access-date=2013-08-07 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130731145133/http://pressroom.toyota.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=2056 |archive-date=2013-07-31 }}</ref> On November 20, 2019, along with 2003-2008 [[Toyota Corolla|Corollas]] and 2004 and 2005 [[Toyota Vitz|Yarises]], the Matrix of the model years from 2003 to 2008 was recalled in Mexico due to these cars containing Takata frontal passenger airbags which might degrade due to weather exposure and variation of high temperatures, which usually occurs on cities with extreme weather, which might cause serious injuries on passengers. Toyota has advised all owners of the following cars to replace these faulty frontal passenger airbags or all airbags, depending on the version. Toyota of Mexico has notified PROFECO that in the Mexican market exists 618 vehicles in addition to these three recalled vehicles. The replacing campaign will go due November 22. {{Clear}}
