===India=== There is not a specific law titled "Vexatious Litigation Law" in India, the concept is primarily addressed through provisions in the Civil Procedure Code and through judicial decisions. The Indian legal system empowers courts to deal with vexatious litigation through several mechanisms.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Johari |first=Aarefa |date=2015-07-27 |title=Even without a law against 'vexatious litigation', Indian courts often give PILs a hard time |url=http://scroll.in/article/744077/even-without-a-law-against-vexatious-litigation-indian-courts-often-give-pils-a-hard-time |access-date=2023-11-06 |website=Scroll.in |language=en-US}}</ref> One common tool is the imposition of costs on the litigant who files frivolous suits. Courts have the discretion to order costs to be paid to the opposing party as a means of discouraging such behavior. These costs can include legal fees and compensation for the wasted time and resources of the other party. Also under Section 35A of the Civil Procedure Code, courts have the authority to declare a litigant a "vexatious litigant." This declaration prohibits the person from filing any further lawsuits in a particular court without obtaining prior permission. This provision is designed to deter individuals from repeatedly abusing the legal system. Courts have the authority to dismiss frivolous cases at the preliminary stage and even initiate contempt of court proceedings against those who persistently file baseless lawsuits.<ref>{{Cite news |last=Bureau |first=The Hindu |date=2022-10-10 |title=HC requests A-G to consider invoking Vexatious Litigation (Prevention) Act, 1949 and prohibit a litigant from filing cases before any court |language=en-IN |work=The Hindu |url=https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/tamil-nadu/hc-requests-a-g-to-consider-invoking-vexatious-litigation-prevention-act-1949-and-prohibit-a-litigant-from-filing-cases-before-any-court/article65993022.ece |access-date=2023-11-06 |issn=0971-751X}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |last=Jain |first=Mehal |date=2022-06-28 |title='Abuse Of Process, Frivolous Litigation' : Supreme Court Affirms Cost Of Rs 5 Lakhs Imposed On Litigant |url=https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/supreme-court-frivolous-litigation-abuse-of-process-of-law-process-of-court-sarfaesi-act-202503 |access-date=2023-11-06 |website=Live Law |language=en}}</ref>
