A [[revolution]] is a significant change that usually occurs in a relatively short period of time. It may be the result of a [[rebellion]] carried out with the intention of creating an entirely new form of government or any new cultural/social/technological paradigm. Examples are the [[Industrial Revolution]], a major shift of technological, socioeconomic, and cultural conditions; the [[American Revolution|American war against colonial Britain]]; the [[Bolshevik]] overthrowing of the [[Russia]]n monarchy to attempt to create a [[Communism|communist]] society; and the attempt by the [[Khmer Rouge]] to start [[Cambodia]]n history anew.
